League Rules

Co-ed Summer League follows UPA 11th Edition Rules with the additions noted below:

  1. No team can play with fewer than 5 players. A team forfeits if there are fewer than 5 players available to play at the time the game is scheduled to start. If both teams agree, teams may play 6 on 6 or 7 on 7.

  2. Gorge Ultimate is co-ed and teams must reflect this on the field. Teams of 5 must have a 3/2 gender split, teams of 6 a 3/3 split, and teams of 7 a 4/3 split. The split can favor either gender.

  3. Only players registered to play with Gorge Ultimate Co-ed Summer League and previously assigned to a given team may play for that team during league games.

  4. A regulation field will be used for 7 on 7 and 6 on 6 games. For 5 on 5 games the field will be reduced to 60 yards by 40 yards, with end zones 20 yards deep.

Like many sports played at a competitive level for many years, Ultimate has many rules in its 11th edition rule book. For those new to the sport there are 10 simple rules to get you started. One of the most fundamental of these rules, and part of what makes it stand out among other competitive sports, is the rule of Spirit of the Game. All players participating in Co-ed Summer League are required to play within the Spirit of the Game.

One of the primary goals of Gorge Ultimate Co-ed Summer League is to provide a fun, Ultimate playing experience for the greatest number of people. As well, it is to grow the Ultimate playing community in the Gorge, increasing the number of men and women participating to a level that reflects the athleticism of the region. To that end, Co-ed Summer League teams are required to ensure that all members of the team are getting equitable playing time and that all members of the team are involved in plays and drives towards the end zones.
